Quoz Art Fest

Calling all creative types: the Quoz Arts Fest will be returning to Alserkal Avenue on January 28 and 29, 2023. The ninth anniversary celebration in 2022 was very successful, and this year’s event promises many more artistic surprises.

Visit the arts and culture hub to participate in seminars put on by curators, see exhibitions, and see live performances by local artists. Explore expansive warehouses with unique galleries filled with the creations of artists from all around the world, or attend a show at the midnight movie marathon.

This is a fun family outing because there are also many activities to keep the small ones occupied and a variety of food trucks to satisfy hunger.

When: January 28th & January 29th 2023

Where: Alserkal Avenue

Takashi Murakami

A collection of sculptures and paintings honouring Mr. DOB, the artist’s legendary creation from 1993, are featured in the exhibition’s opening. Several anime characters, including Doraemon, Sonic, and Mickey Mouse, served as inspiration for Mr. DOB’s design.

His name is a shortened version of the Japanese slang word “dobojite,” which means “why.” The letters of Mr. DOB’s name are still visible on his face and ears despite the countless changes he has undergone throughout the years.

The DOB character has a sophisticated psyche and has accompanied Takashi Murakami in his existential reflections to the point of becoming the artist’s avatar.

The sculpture Together with the Flower Parent and Child, which is displayed here in a multicoloured version, features the reoccurring motif of flowers, another identifier of Takashi Murakami’s work.

When:  25th November 2022 to 28th January 2022

Where: Perrotin, Dubai
