The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is launching its much-anticipated winter camps this December, aimed at providing children aged 4 to 14 with immersive cultural, artistic, and educational experiences. Held at various cultural and heritage sites, the camps will be organized in two sessions: the first from December 16 to 20, and the second from December 23 to 27. The initiative aligns with Dubai Culture’s mission to nurture creativity, innovation, and self-expression among young minds.

Al Shindagha Museum Winter Camp

Children at this camp will dive into Dubai’s archaeological history through engaging workshops led by archaeology experts. Activities include learning excavation techniques, artefact restoration, and site analysis. Participants will create seal designs inspired by archaeological discoveries and enjoy a field trip to the Jumeirah Archaeological Site.

Etihad Museum Winter Camp: ‘Young Leaders: Shaping Tomorrow’

Focusing on leadership and teamwork, this camp immerses participants in the values and vision of the UAE’s Founding Fathers. Interactive challenges will help children develop skills in community engagement and communication. Activities highlight Dubai’s traditional architecture, environmental initiatives, and advancements in technology, space, and creative industries.

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood Winter Camp: ‘Journey of the Pioneers in Al Fahidi’

This camp blends culture, recreation, and creativity. Kids will explore star mapping, craft sundials inspired by Dubai landmarks, and design traditional wooden boats. A standout workshop, ‘Future City Planning,’ encourages children to imagine futuristic cities based on the historical neighbourhood’s architectural heritage.

Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children Winter Camp: ‘Al Jalila’s Winter Wonders’

Young participants can unleash their artistic talents through pottery, clay modeling, theatre, painting, and design. This camp fosters creativity, imagination, and artistic growth in a supportive environment.

Dubai Public Library Winter Camp: ‘Little Explorers’

Held at Al Safa Art and Design, Al Rashidiya, Al Twar, Umm Suqeim, Al Mankhool, and Hatta libraries, this camp combines art and science. Activities include crafting marine sculptures, pottery painting, and learning about the UAE’s national tree, the Ghaf. Virtual reality adventures and STEM-based experiments, such as fluid mechanics and optics, further enrich the experience.

Additional Highlights

  • Interactive Science Workshops: Children will explore sustainable city design, hydraulic systems, and the mysteries of chemical and biological reactions.
  • Prizes for Creativity: Special prizes will motivate participants to engage in creative and scientific activities.

Second-Hand Book Fair

Coinciding with the camps, Dubai Culture will host a Second-Hand Book Fair at Al Mankhool Public Library from December 16 to 27. Open Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the fair offers books priced at AED 2, 5, and 10. This initiative promotes book sustainability and fosters a love for reading among all age groups.

Dubai Culture’s winter camps offer a platform for children to develop skills, embrace innovation, and connect with Dubai’s rich heritage and creative landscape, ensuring a meaningful and memorable winter break.
