Haya Al-Tasan, a resilient Saudi artist and cancer survivor, made a remarkable debut at the Classy Expo 2023, held from October 25 to October 31. Her art booth at the expo stood as a testament to the transformative power of art in her life. Haya Al-Tasan’s artistic journey began as a personal odyssey, guiding her from the depths of adversity to newfound strength and solace. She discovered the healing potential of painting, a realization that would transform her life and inspire her art.

From a young age, Al-Tasan had a passion for art and drawing, but it wasn’t until later in life that she recognized its profound impact on her well-being. She revealed, “Drawing and engaging in art became a source of happiness and therapy for me, providing a positive and uplifting energy. It was like feeding the soul with art.”

The Classy Expo marked a turning point in Al-Tasan’s artistic journey, thanks to her daughter’s surprise arrangement of a booth to showcase her work. Visitors to her booth were captivated by the emotions and stories conveyed through her art.

Overwhelmed by the response, Al-Tasan shared, “I feel speechless and so happy, emotional when visitors recognize the artwork and feel my pain and happiness through my artwork.”

Her art speaks volumes about her personal journey and reflects messages of happiness, resilience, and the idea that beauty can emerge from adversity. She expressed, “I wanted people to see happiness in my artwork and to feel that all the pain I went through led to beautiful artwork and turned out to be something good. From everything bad, there is good. Don’t give up, keep trying.”

Beyond her artistic creations, art has played a pivotal role in Al-Tasan’s personal growth. It has taught her to find inner peace, avoid taking life’s challenges personally, and make decisions without regrets. She explained, “The process helped me to calm down and be patient.”

Al-Tasan’s artwork is a celebration of African culture, with a particular focus on the beauty of African women and their traditional attire. Her skillful brushstrokes capture the vibrancy of African fashion, with its rich colors, intricate patterns, and captivating textures, resulting in visually stunning pieces. Her art not only pays homage to African heritage but also promotes cultural appreciation and cross-cultural understanding.

One of the hallmarks of Haya Al-Tasan’s work is her ability to capture the joy and energy of dance, transporting viewers to a world filled with the rhythm and movement of music. She also incorporates the delicate beauty of flowers, utilizing their colors and forms to add depth and symbolism to her creations. Her diverse range of subjects showcases her talent and passion for capturing the essence of culture, music, and nature.

The Classy Expo has provided Al-Tasan with a platform to share her work with a broader audience. The event allowed her to network, connect with art enthusiasts, and receive offers from various stores. Her dream is to become a globally recognized artist, and she is determined to continue creating art and connecting with art lovers worldwide.

Haya Al-Tasan’s artistic journey serves as an inspiration to all, proving that art has the power to heal, uplift, and transform, and that from adversity, beauty can always emerge. Her hope is that her art will continue to inspire others to find strength and solace through creativity and self-expression.
