Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

  • The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum of modern and contemporary art designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry and located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain.
  • This museum was inaugurated on 18 October 1997 by King Juan Carlos I of Spain, with an exhibition of 250 contemporary works of art. 
  • When the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao opened to the public in 1997, it was immediately hailed as one of the world’s most spectacular buildings in the style of Deconstructivism
  • The museum building was most frequently named as one of the most important works completed since 1980 in the 2010 World Architecture Survey among architecture experts.

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía

  • Queen Sofía Palace of the Arts is the last major structure built of a grand City of Arts and Sciences concept designed by the Valencia-born and internationally known architect Santiago Calatrava.
  • The building was constructed by a joint venture of Dragados and Necso and It was opened officially on 8 October 2005 by Queen Sofía of Spain.
  • The building rises 14 stories above ground and includes three stories below ground. Its height is 75 meters (246 ft), being the tallest opera house in the world.
  • Under the metallic, expansive curved-roof structure, the building contains four auditoriums: The Sala Principal, The Auditorium Aula Magistral, and Martí I Soler Theatre
