As the UAE prepares to mark the ninth Emirati Women’s Day on August 28, 2024, a range of hotels, restaurants, and venues across the country have curated special events and offers. From art exhibitions showcasing local talent to discounted staycations and cultural workshops, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Expo City Dubai is also hosting an inspiring lineup of events throughout the day.

Art Exhibition at Four Seasons Al Maryah Island

Starting August 28, the Four Seasons Hotel at Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi will launch a month-long exhibition featuring the works of Emirati artist Faezeh Mohammed Hassan. Renowned for her plein-air paintings, Hassan’s artwork honors the contributions of Emirati women like Nabati poet Ousha bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi and depicts iconic sites such as the Khorfakkan Fortress. Visitors can enhance their experience with a locally-inspired afternoon tea.

Carpet Art Exhibition at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi has partnered with the Fatima Bint Mohamed Bin Zayed Initiative for an exhibition that merges art with a humanitarian cause. Held in the Grand Dome, this exhibition features handcrafted carpets by Zuleya, with proceeds going toward the development of underprivileged Afghan communities. The carpets, made from Afghan sheep fleece, are purchased from nomads in northern Afghanistan.

Oud Workshop at St Regis Saadiyat Island

For those interested in the rich aromatic tradition of oud, the St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi is hosting a sensory workshop at Mazi restaurant. Participants will explore the nuances of oud, learn the crafting process of this prized fragrance, and gain insights into selecting high-quality oud. The experience concludes with a refined afternoon tea.

Free Screening and Panel Discussions at Expo City Dubai

Expo City Dubai’s Women’s Pavilion, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs. It will host Honour in Action, a day-long program dedicated to celebrating the humanitarian contributions of Emirati women. The event includes two-panel discussions featuring female Emirati leaders, humanitarian workers, and activists. As well as a screening of Behind the Frontlines, a documentary that tells the stories of humanitarian workers and their dedication to serving others.
